Welcome to the World of Blogging!

This marks the beginning of a wonderful new adventure for us!  I’m excited and hope you are too!!

Welcome to your first online blogging experience.  After talking about the guidelines and online etiquette, after setting up design and after becoming familiar with basic functions . . . you are ready.  I hope you find the writing assignments and discussions we partake in here to be enjoyable and beneficial.  This will be the beginning of establishing a DIGITAL FOOTPRINT for you.  We will have mini-lessons along the way that emphasize the equal importance of being a safe, courteous online citizen as it is to be a safe, courteous offline citizens. Whether you are moving on to college or venturing forth into a new career, your digital footprint may serve you well in showcasing your accomplishments and talents.

Our posts will include:

~ Book Reviews

~ Creative Non-Fiction that focuses on important aspects of our lives without revealing more online than is safe and appropriate.  Example posts under this category will include (to get you excited or wondering!):  “My Indelible Event,” “The Best Advice,” “My Creative Side,” and “It’s Not Fair.”

For your very first post, however, I would like you simply to become acclimated to posting to your website.  In doing so, I explain the post below:

from kodomut on Flickr.com

Blog about an accomplishment you are proud of.  Describe a challenging project you completed at some point in your life, along with an explanation of how you became interested in the project.  (e.g., sewing a dress, writing a story, building a shed, or learning to use a photography darkroom).

–    Helpful hint of the day:  Save your work as draft first.  That way, you can review it for mechanics and overall quality of expression before you post it.  Happy Blogging!  🙂

–  Write as much as you want for today.  As your first post, I’m not placing a minimum or limit.

– Create as creative of a title for your post as you can.  In other words, I’m hoping you don’t fall back to “Post #1.”

–  Place this in the Narratives category.

–  Add some tags that relate to what you are writing.  This will allow you to be placed in the big, wide world of search engines.

6.  If you want to include a picture or two, you must choose from a Common site picture (and give credit to that site) or your own appropriate picture. Please see the thorough instruction page I gave you.

6.  Enjoy yourself!
