Digital Citizenship

Digital citizenship includes three key skills:

1.  Safety – this involves educating yourself on the safety and privacy services for your favorite websites, social networks or devices.  For instance, for this website, we can turn on or off the option to be searched within Google.

2.  Literacy – this involves understanding the web tools you’re using and where the information you access online comes from.  Furthermore, it is important to cite correctly and give credit to sources.  We will practice this in class.

3.  Responsibility – this involves being responsible and practicing good etiquette online . . . i.e. reporting harmful content, thinking before you post, and using your online power to make a positive impact.  Drafting, proofing, and editing is more important than ever as we begin to establish our positive digital footprints.
